R.I.P. Harold Ramis

Musique - "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker, Jr.
I was very saddened to hear of Harold Ramis's death today. Ghostbusters has been my favorite movie for thirty years and he is greatly responsible for its enduring charm. I usually get sad when celebrities I love die, but this is sadder than most for me. I've seen Ghostbusters more times than any other movie on the planet. My sister and I used to recreate scenes from it and play Ghostbusters in the woods. We'd watch it nearly every day when we got home from school. Harold Ramis was a very important part of our childhood. And now he's gone. I keep crying because it's so sad and he was way too young. But at least we'll have the movies he wrote, starred in, and directed to remember him by. What an amazing talent he was and he will be so sincerely missed.

Kiss, Marry, Kill

Musique - "Welcome to My World" by Nerf Herder

Have you ever played Kiss, Marry, Kill, (or if you prefer, Fuck, Marry, Kill) where you list three people you'd like to do those things to? Well, here are my choices from some TV shows and movie series I particularly enjoy:

Buffyverse

Kiss: Angel (oh, sweet Lord, yes)

Marry: Wesley (mostly on Angel, not so much on Buffy)

Kill: Kennedy (hate. HATE.)

Kiss: Seneca Crane (but only because of Wes Bentley's portrayal of him; I don't really fancy making out with a gamemaker)

Marry: Peeta (even with his rock face)

Kill: President Snow (who else?)

Kiss: Ron Weasley (but only in like the last two or three movies)

Marry: Sirius Black (obvs)

Kill: Dolores Umbridge (obvs)

Kiss: Aragorn (I bet it would be AWESOME)

Marry: Faramir (he seems like the husbandly type and he was oh so sweet to Eowyn)

Kill: Sauron (duh)

Kiss: Daryl (oh, Norman Reedus, there are no words)

Marry: Rick (I bet you thought I'd pick Daryl for both kiss and marry—and I was tempted, but I just think Rick would make the better husband)

Kill: Andrea (most annoying character on the show)

Kiss: Arnold Rothstein (I think it's the bow tie that does it for me)

Marry: Richard Harrow (I have a legitimate crush on Richard, even if he is fictional)

Kill: Gillian Darmody (don't get me wrong—I LOVE Gretchen Mol, but Gillian is a twisted freak who needs to be put down!)

Kiss: Matthew Crawley (so handsome in that uniform!)

Marry: Tom Branson (he looks good in his chauffeur's uniform AND his tux, and oh man, that Irish accent!)

Kill: Edna Braithwaite (FUCK, I hate her.)

What It Feels Like To Win—SEAHAWKS!!

Musique - "Blue and Green" by T.N.T. featuring Smiley G
I was driving to work this morning on 99 and just before I hit the SODO district and the stadiums, T.N.T.'s "Blue and Green" came on the radio. It was a beautiful, sunny day, I was wearing my Seahawks regalia, and then a seagull flew right by me, all while this Seahawks anthem was playing. I started crying because it was such a perfect, lovely moment. I was so full of love for this amazing city of Seattle and our amazing Seahawks.
Even though I was born and (mostly) raised in Washington, my own love affair with the Seahawks didn't start until after they'd been in the Super Bowl in 2006. At the time they played that game, I was glad that the local team was in it, but I didn't particularly care for football, so I didn't even watch it. However, late in 2006, after a loss in Arizona, some of the Seahawks flew back home and decided to go out for a few drinks at the Kirkland Pub. I happened to be at the Kirkland Pub on that Sunday in question. I also happened to have had WAY too much to drink. And I also happened to think it was a good idea to go up and talk to the Seahawks even though I only knew who they were because my boyfriend at the time told me. I'm sure I made a total ass of myself and was probably super annoying, but the guys I met were so freaking nice to me and never asked me to leave them alone. I played touch screen trivia games with Lofa Tatupu and Rocky Bernard. Sean Locklear was really nice too. And then I did a really stupid thing. I told Walter Jones that he looked like Carlton Banks because he was wearing a sweater vest, and I tried to get him to do the Carlton dance. Yeah. I think if I had been a dude, they would have been scraping me up off the floor. I don't think he was very pleased. But I saw Tatupu a couple weeks later at the Kirkland Pub again, and he just laughed and said "Walt didn't know what to do with you!" So I'm really hopeful that they all just found me funny and weren't offended by my drunken behavior. However, I will always have to live with the fact that I quite possibly insulted an NFL Hall of Famer. But honestly, I was just trying to be funny—he looked quite dapper in his sweater vest and not a bit like Carlton. Anyway, long story short, because these guys were so damn nice to me, I decided that I did indeed like the Seahawks.
Yesterday was such a perfect day for the game—sunny and full of Seattle pride! I wore my new Seahawks outfit (I totally made that plain white middy into my own 1920s inspired Seahawks masterpiece—there are two Seahawks logos on the back flap) and had some champagne before the gang went to World Sports Grille by Lake Union. It was so exciting for me to be amongst so many Seahawks fans. There was a LOT of jumping up and down in that bar.
The game itself was so exciting. I knew we'd win, but I didn't know we thrash the Broncos so completely! Man, the Hawks just killed it. It was exhilarating!
It's an exciting feeling living in Seattle right now. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are Grammy winners. The Seahawks are Super Bowl winners. It's freaking amazing. The energy in this city is palpable and like I said earlier, it makes me cry because I'm so happy and so proud to be right here, right now.
